A Spot of Poetry

Eden Remembered

No right to miss you – wishing and kissing an image of you;
remembering always that you are not mine.

Loneliness enters; brought on by thoughts of you
living, loving, and giving yourself to another.

Fearfully dreaming you will rise into manhood,
leaving me to mourn fate, youth, and mischance.

Never knowing passion existed between us–
apart from our union of words and joining of thoughts.

We will never know the sweet ecstasy of Adam and Eve;
for we have already been expelled from that ancient garden of loving.

Our joining would fill paradise with shame,
making the tempting fruit of Eden blush anew.

No right to tempt, talk, or even think of you;
remembering always that you are not mine.

Wanting and Being

I want to know your body; your innermost parts.

I don’t want to love you.

I don’t want to care about you.

I want to taste forbiddance in your kiss.

I don’t want to be yours.

I don’t want you to be mine.

I want to feel your touch against the heat of my flesh.

I don’t want to save you.

I don’t want you to rescue me.

I want to use you.

I want you to use me.

I want to walk away intact-

having lost none of myself inside you.

I want to possess you.

You will not possess me.

I want to hold you.

You will never capture me.

You will give in to me.

You will reach inside me.

You will want more-

having lost all of yourself inside me.

You will want my body.

I will be satisfied.

I will be gone.

I will continue to be.
